Art in the House Winter 2012: Week 3

Hello Art In The House Friends,

In celebration of Valentine’s Day this upcoming week the students made Shrink Art tokens to give to both relatives and secret admirers! Inspired by Neil’s slide show of Valentines through the ages, many students chose to make funny pun Valentines, i.e: “Wooden Shoe like to Be My Valentine!”, “Hoo Loves You?”, and “Love You to Pizza!”. Others used words and symbols of love to make their Shrink Art. All loved watching them curl, flatten, and shrink in the toaster oven in minutes!

FIELD TRIP! Wednesday, February 22: As you probably know, there is NO SCHOOL Feb. 20-24 due to Winter Break. A few parents and students have expressed interest in another AITH field trip to Greenwich House Pottery and space is limited to 6. Please let me know if you’re interested or would like me to hold a space for your child. It’s a full day from 9AM to 5PM. The fee is $150.

Next Week: Students will create a fabric collage quilt square of their own design representing their families!

Note: Tuesday’s class will be painting their clay boxes when we break out the acrylics for another fun painting project.
